Sometimes you don’t need full-service design—you just need a designer to help you see the possibilities, make confident decisions, and give you a clear path forward.
Our Design Consultation is a focused, collaborative working session customized around your home and your goals. We can take a deep dive into two or more rooms, or use our time together to look more broadly at multiple spaces and develop an overall direction for your home.
Consultations are available in person for clients local to the Chicago area or virtually via Google Meet, depending on your location and preference.
During our time together, we can review your existing furniture and layout, work through space-planning challenges, establish a cohesive color palette, discuss renovation ideas, and provide guidance on materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, lighting, art, and accessories. The exact focus is tailored to where you are in the process and where you need the most help.

Furniture + layout review
We’ll assess what you already own, what’s working, what isn’t, and opportunities to improve furniture placement, flow, scale, and function.
Renovation + material guidance
Planning a renovation? We can help establish the design direction and guide decisions around materials, finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and other key elements before you move forward.
A personalized mood board + color story
Following the consultation, you’ll receive a cohesive visual direction for your home, including a mood board and color and material selections tailored to each room discussed.
A personalized, shoppable Pinterest board
We’ll curate furniture, lighting, art, accessories, and other finds selected specifically for your home, giving you a resource you can shop and implement at your own pace.
A 30-minute follow-up
Once you’ve had time to review your recommendations, we’ll reconnect for a 30-minute follow-up to answer any outstanding questions and make sure you feel confident about your next steps.
The goal is for you to leave with more than inspiration. You’ll have a clear design direction, specific selections, and the tools to confidently bring the plan to life on your own and at your own pace—or continue working with studio b. for support with sourcing, procurement, and execution.
